Migraine Therapy

Migraines can't be healed, but Advanced Pain Center will work with you to help you manage your condition. Drugs for migraine headaches can reduce the pain and symptoms of a migraine attack and avert further migraine attacks. Migraine therapy involves acute and preventive therapy. Patients with frequent attacks usually need both. Measures directed toward reducing migraine causes are also generally advisable. The goal of acute (abortive) treatment is to stop a migraine once it starts. Acute medications stop a migraine when you feel once it has begun. Abortive treatments include the trip tans, they are all very similar in their action and chemical structure. It can be taken by self-injection, mouth, skin patch, or nasal spray. Preventive treatment is considered if migraines occur regularly, typically more than one migraine per week. The goal is to diminish the frequency and severity of the migraine attacks. Medication to prevent a migraine can be taken daily.
